You may have noticed that a lot of content lately here on Modish & Main has had a healthy living focus to it. I’m continuing it by celebrating “Her Health Month” with BabbleBoxx where it’s all about doing things that better your wellness and spirit. Whether it’s adding an extra 20 minutes to your daily walks, listening to an inspiring podcast, taking all-natural supplements or heading to bed early to light a candle and read a book that betters oneself. Whatever it is, dedicate time to celebrate the best of YOU.
I was so excited to receive an entire box focused on healthy living. I don’t know if it’s because I’m reaching my mid-30’s or that I feel like it’s time to really give myself permission to put myself first. My mindset for the past few months has been really focused on bettering my wellbeing. If anyone knows me personally, then you know that I do not budge on finding time to unwind at night and read a good book (average 45-50/year). I often light a candle on my nightstand (bonus if it’s infused with essential oils like the ones from Chesapeake Bay), clean up and spend the next 20-45 minutes reading a book.
I would say that 75% of the time I opt to read a fictional story and then the other 25% of the time I choose a good inspirational, entrepreneurial read. My requirement is that it motivates me, yet doesn’t make me close the pages and start jotting down a to-do list 100 items long. I am REALLY enjoying The Myth of a Nice Girl by Fran Hauser. I’m about 60% of the way through it as I write this post. It definitely provides career guidance & female empowerment, but it helps me see the light as to where I’m succeeding in the workplace and where I’m losing myself. I’ve ALWAYS prided myself on being “nice” in my career and establishing solid relationships wherever I go, but Fran helps us see that being nice and being successful doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. I highly recommend reading it!
The nice woman can succeed too …. and we all know that a little extra niceness in the world can’t hurt.
If there is one thing that I never skip is taking Dexie for a long walk each morning and often times again early in the evening. I know it’s good for me to get up & moving, but more importantly, I know my pup needs to keep living a long and healthy life. I love to take this time to catch up on my favorite true crime podcasts or even jog a few laps around our neighborhood park to burn some extra calories.
The Aftershokz Trekz Air headphones are LEGIT my new favorite thing. Traditional earbuds that get inserted into your ears are actually really painful for me. Therefore, I’ve resorted to only wearing the big cumbersome headphones, but those are a bit much for a morning walk. Once I unpackaged these and realized they were bud-free listening, lightweight and open ear headphones that use bone conduction for noise, I was super intrigued! All it took was one wear & I was hooked. You actually forget they are on because the headphones are so comfortable.
My friends at BabbleBoxx wanted to share my love for the Aftershokz Trekz Air headphones with you by offering my readers $30 off orders placed before June 30th using code: KRISTINA30. Trust me, these are worth EVERY penny.
Catching a glimpse of that sports bra? That’s right, for many of us CHAMPION was probably the first workout brand we ever used and they haven’t gone anywhere. I love the classic style of this Absolute Sports Bra and it provides the moderate support needing while having a smooth chafe resistant band and wicking for moisture management. I clearly felt so comfortable in it that I channeled my inner Jenna Kutcher and feel confident enough to bare (almost) it all! This body, while not a size 4, carries me through every day tasks and takes me on amazing opportunites that I’m so grateful for. The least I could do was pay tribute to it!
Since I’m all about supplements these days & getting in my nutrition whichever way is easiest, I loved getting these Pure Synergy products. I love finding companies who are authentic, genuine and truly trying to provide good in this world. Pure Synergy sells organic vitamins, extracts and superfood powders in their most purest form, leaving you with all the health benefits. I enjoyed a glass of the Organic Beet Juice Powder after my morning walk as it’s a natural health booster and the Tumeric Extract is so beneficial to someone like me who suffers from constant inflammation throughout their body.
Use code PURESYNERGYPARTNER for 15% off your order.
Raise your hand if you work in front of a computer all day and then binge watch your favorite TV shows at night?
Both of my hands are raised.
For so many of us, being in front of our devices, whether it’s a computer or our phones, we are exposed to sources of blue light consistently throughout the day. More and more they are finding these UV blue rays to be harmful to our eyes and brands like Zenni are making it possible to protect our eyes and still look stylish. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about the damage that blue rays were causing until I went to the eye doctor a few years ago and he started to tell me (and again this year) that my eyes were getting worse from spending so much time in front of my computer and phone.
I love that a simple switch to UV blue blocker lenses can protect our eyes all day from the harmful blue light. The styles they offer on Zenni are really cute AND it’s crazy how inexpensive they are. I particularly love the acetate options along with all the tortoise designs.
**GIVEAWAY! Myself, along with my friends at Zenni, want one lucky reader to win a $200 gift card good for one pair of prescription or non-prescription glasses or sunglasses. To win, simply comment below with one thing you plan on doing to better your wellness this month. That’s it, in a few days I’ll pick one person to win the Zenni gift card!
I’ve learned that healthy living isn’t an all or nothing thing. It can start with one simple change. Beware — often times it can cause you to keep making healthy choices & before you know it you’re commited to exercise 3-4 times a week, taking time to read a book or have more energy to play with your kids. Don’t worry, it’s a bad habit to get into!
