If you’ve been reading this blog consistently for the past 3 1/2 years or are just stopping by for the first time, you should know that I love to read. I’m currently reading “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero and am loving it! It was recommended to me by my good friend, Aisha, and I think the tagline of the book sums it up pretty well … How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life. I can’t wait to check in with you & let you know what I thought of it overall and some of my key takeaways.
In general, I commit to reading every night before bed. I’m a bit of an old fart when it comes to bed time and head upstairs around 8:30pm, clean up and hop into bed to read a few chapters. My Mom gifted me the new Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday this summer (I had the original version) and it’s been a game changer for nighttime reading. It’s so lightweight, thus allowing me to hold it with one hand, has a built-in light and it’s a touch screen. I also love that it directly connects to my Goodreads account, helping me track my 2016 reading challenge.
If I want to make sure I retain what I am reading, like with You are a Badass, then I take time in the morning to read a chapter or two. At night, it’s all about reading my non-fiction stories. Here’s a short list of some of my favorites books that I’ve read lately that I think you might enjoy as well.
• First to Kill (Nathan McBride series) by Andrew Peterson
• My Sister’s Grave (Tracy Crosswhite series) by Robert Dugoni
• Wreckage by Emily Bleeker
• An Innocent Client (A Joe Dillard series) by Scott Pratt
What books have you been reading & are there any that you can recommend me?
