These days my personal style centers around comfort and versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. Whenever I want to feel pulled together, stylish and comfortable all at the same I time I grab for my denim on denim look. The key to pulling this off is making sure your denims don’t match. That’s when you fall into the Canadien Tuxedo category and although that works for some people (you work on a ranch or live in Canada), it’s best to offset the denim.
Another tip is to wear the darker shade of denim where you want to appear slimmer. Just saying, it works.
As with most outfits in my life, I personally love to add my personal touch of a hat. With this denim on denim look, you could honestly pull off a baseball cap, newsboy hat, bandana, straw fedora or wide-brim style like I did here. I should know… I’ve literally worn this outfit with ALL of those options at some point in time. You literally can’t go wrong.
Check out my post on how to create a hat wall display.
There are just some days where I’ve got to get out of the house & work at a coffee shop or our local food hall which has a brewery, sandwich shop, pho, etc. As an entrepreneur/photographer, you never know who you’ll meet and I want to make sure I still look presentable in case I run into somebody while still showing off a bit of my personality at the same time. The denim on denim look can be dressed up or dressed down all depending on your accessories.
Heading for an afternoon of shopping? Throw on a hat, simple jewelry and some tan loafers. Going out for drinks with friends? Skip the hat and tie a bandana around your neck, throw on a great watch and add some ankle booties with a basic clutch. Or if you’re like me and going to work, add the hat, some cute wedge sandals or booties (depending on where you live & time of year) and steal from the boys with a stylish leather briefcase that can hold all your essentials. Limitless possibilities.
Do you like the denim on denim look or should be left alone to the Canadiens? I love our friends to the north so I can’t get enough of this outfit!
