We moved into our new home about 2 months ago and as you can imagine there is a running list of things to do. My husband always loves taking care of the yard and does pretty good job of updating our landscaping, so the first thing on his agenda was to cut down a large dead tree hanging out in the backyard.
Before he got crazy with the chainsaw, I told him to hold on lets get creative with this. We talked about making it a pub table for us but then realized our boys would love it! So he cut down the tree to a perfect height for the kids & we added a tabletop so the kids could sit on the grass and enjoy it during their playtime!
So I am just starting to find my way in the DIY world and figure out what works. So far spray paint has been a great thing in helping me complete my projects. So here is what we did —
I found a great pre-cut and unfinished circle wood top, Rust-Oleum meadow green spray paint in gloss and Varathane in clear semi-gloss to protect it from the sprinklers and sun.
I did 2 coats or the Rust-Oleum one day and then the next day applied 2 coats of the Varathane protection spray. Once it dried my hubby attached it to the stump with 3, 2 inch long nails in a triangle.
I have to say it came out pretty good for the first real “DIY” project. Plus, the kids love it and are already out building legos on it each afternoon. It will also come in handy for BBQ’s as an additional place for the kids to sit and eat. I do plan on getting or making big outdoor cushions to put around and make it even more comfy. Stay tuned 🙂
