It’s been awhile since a DIY project has been on here, but this one is a keeper! We all have goals to get a bit more organized in the New Year and I suggest starting it off with a DIY wood command center hung in your entryway. This is honestly a really easy DIY project, but it has a ton of functionality!
Over the past couple of years I’ve been slowly trying to transition out some of our old pieces of furniture where the wood doesn’t really match what we have going on now. Previously, we had a skinny console table with a drawer right here in the entryway from the garage (which is into our living room) where we’d drop our keys, sunglasses and odds & ends. Not going to lie, it drove me nuts because it didn’t fit with our decor and because it lacked functionality, it just became a drop zone for junk. Hence, I’ve had building a wood command center on my DIY list for far too long.
You should know by now that I love any reason to get out my power tools and build something. When you can’t find the perfect solution, just build it! I brainstormed over the design while sipping on a glass of Cambria Wines Benchbreak Pinot Noir and got to sketching out a functional layout.
What’s so great about this DIY wood command post is that it can be customized to fit your needs. You can paint it, stain it add more knobs, bigger lists, etc. I particularly love that it’s not another piece of furniture on the floor and that it’s slim, tucks behind the door and holds EVERYTHING we need it to.
