On Sunday I hosted some of my closest girlfriends at my home for a Holiday Bake & Brunch. It’s our 2nd year doing this and it truly is something I look forward to. We picked a date about 6 weeks out and set some loose parameters towards the day. Since there are a few of us that have dietary restrictions (nut free, gluten free, dairy free) we asked guests to bring a recipe that accommodated our needs and to also bring an item valued at $25 for a gift exchange. Beyond that, it was just counting down the days to our bake & brunch day!
As the host, I wanted my girlfriends to feel extra special as I’m so grateful to have them in my life. Since we were getting together in the morning, I wanted some extra food so we weren’t relying on stealing nibbles from our baked goods. I grabbed some vegan donuts, cranberry/orange scones and my friend Stephanie brought a couple homemade egg quiches that were so delicious! Of course, I had a mimosa bar with plenty of back-up bottles of champagne and an array of juices. I think I did more mimosa drinking than I did baking!
We took a break while the first round of cookies were in the oven to get off our feet and enjoy a charcuterie board with more mimosas. I highly recommend not trying to accomplish too much in one day because baking is exhausting, plus you want to carve out time to really enjoy the company of your friends.
Thanks to the generosity of PAPYRUS and Supergoop!, two of my favorite brands, for gifting my friends a little something extra this holiday season. I loved watching them pick up the tote bag and then play with the best SPF products on the market (in my opinion at least!). Needless to say, they were a big hit!
At one point, while baking, I looked up and saw all my friends having these different conversations and there was laughter with Christmas music in the background and it made me so happy. I know that sounds cheesy, but I really do have the greatest group of ladies in my life!
Of course we couldn’t leave Dexie out of the mix! She got plenty of love from her Auntie Jill.
These homemade pizzelles from Stephanie were sooooooo good! Brought me right back to Italy.
Of course, a Holiday Bake & Brunch isn’t complete with a little gift exchange! When you have such stylish friends you can expect to receive really stylish gifts and these girls didn’t disappoint. One of my friends even said that she had to go pinterest style on her gift just to make sure she could keep up with her blogger friends. HA HA HA HA I promise, there was no such pressure!
When I look at this picture below, I think how amazing it is the friends that come into your life year after year. This Holiday Bake & Brunch is about celebrating old & new friendships (Lindsay & I have been friends since we were 13) and celebrating the holiday season. Everyone left with a handful of baked goods, a slight mimosa buzz and lots of good memories.
Happy Holidays Friends!
Thank you to PAPYRUS and Supergoop! for providing gifts towards our 2nd Annual Holiday Bake & Brunch. I’m so incredibly lucky to work with such amazing brands and they help make this blog possible. Thank you for supporting them!
