As you can probably tell, 2018 was my quest to conquer my skin care. From sharing how I got the best skin of my life at 34 to how I have transitioned into all-natural products, it’s truly been a full revelation for my skin this past year. Throughout the last quarter of the year, I’ve made it a point to incorporate hydrosol facial sprays into my skincare routine and I’m obsessed. Like legit obsessed.

Ok, so what is a hydrosol facial spray? It’s basically a water-based facial mist, but when made with flowers or essence, they’re often called hydrosols. It is often referred to as “floral water.”

What’s the benefit of using a hydrosol spray? Umm…. amazingness. No seriously. Just like we should be drinking a ton of water every day for the benefit of our bodies AND our skin, by also spraying water onto your face (infused with botanicals) it adds an additional layer of hydration. This is super important esepcially during the winter months when our skin is typically drier, but also throughout the entire year because it can be soothing, reduces inflammation and redness. Depending on what the hydrosol spray is infused with, it can also be calming and refreshing,

As I mentioned above, depending on what the hydrosol facial spray is infused with, it can be used all day long. Hence, I have a pretty vast selection of sprays on hand depending on my needs. They each serve a purpose & because I’ve been misting my face 3-5 times daily, I have noticed that my skin appears MUCH more hydrated and feels refreshed even by late afternoon.

Here’s how I use the facial sprays —

Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Spray is essential anytime I want to refresh my face. Sometimes I use it first thing in the morning before I go on my walk, but I always mist it on after I do a workout because it has just a small amount of salicylic acid to help prevent breakouts, but yet also infused with the magical wonders of stone crop juice for ultimate hydration.

SW Basics Rose Water is one of those floral waters that can be used all day long (and I often do). I spray it on before applying any additional skincare products and makeup. I also use it throughout the day to refresh my face, plus it naturally has anti-inflammatory properties. What I love about the SW Basics brand (and all the brands I personally choose to use) is that their hydrosol sprays are always pure, 100% natural and steam-distilled. Only the good stuff and not full of synthetic ingredients that a lot of rose water sprays on the market have.

Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Facial Spray is my on the go rose water spray. I keep it in a pouch that goes in my purse and use it refresh in the middle of a long work day, after a photoshoot and especially when traveling. I’m known for multiple facial sprays throughout a flight!

SW Basics Lavender Water gets spritzed every evening before bed. Lavender is an all-around essential ingredient to incorporate into your life, so a few sprays after I’ve cleansed my face and hit the sack is great for soothing my skin AND my nerves. I love that the smell is not overpowering, but rather subtle and calming. I would suggest placing this bottle right on your nightstand so you don’t forget to use it each night. Your skin will thank you!

Lastly, SW Basics Peppermint Water is my favorite way to reinvigorate my skin. Did you know that stress shows up on your skin? So anytime I’m feeling anxious or stressed, I walk upstairs and give my face a few sprays. You might be surprised, but peppermint is super calming and really really effective. You could also use this throughout the day to just refresh your skin & wake it up.

Great skin truly doesn’t have to be complicated. It starts from the inside out (i.e. drink a lot of water & watch the processed foods + dairy) and then investing in GOOD clean beauty products that are comprised of all-natural ingredients that feed your skin the essentials. You’d be surprised at how much your skin will love hydrosol facial sprays. It’ll feel more refreshed and hydrated than ever before, plus it couldn’t be any easier to apply. A few spritz & away you go.

I’d love to know if you incorproate hydrosol sprays into your skincare routine and what your favorites are. Leave a comment below!
