If you’re like me, chomping on a bushel of kale or steaming up a bowl of broccoli everyday to ensure you’re eating enough greens each day is highly unlikely. To be honest, I actually despise salads and only eat them occasionally when I’m having an odd craving. With that being said, I am very conscious about how to incorporate eating more greens in my life on a daily basis especially this month while I’m on my dry August detox.
Unlike my good friend Jill from The 805 Diary who can literally survive on churros, Red Vines and onion rings and still look incredible, I have to be quite a bit more conscious about what I put into my body. Having switched my diet to gluten free and dairy free over 2.5 years ago, I do try to incorporate a strong plant-based diet as I know it provides me with the nutritional benefits that I need to feel healthy and energized day-to-day.
Since life is busy for ALL of us, I’m the first to tell you that I know it’s not easy to ensure that we’re getting enough vegetables into our bodies on a daily basis. From deadlines, photoshoots, travel and other obligations, it’s hard to either (a) have fresh produce on hand week in & week out or (b) find time to prepare it. That’s where my Kiwami Greens packets come in to save the day.
This one daily packet is packed with nutrient-rich vegetables that make it easy to get your daily intake of vegetables and then some. It’s packed with calcium, vitamins B, C, and E, iron, and fiber. Ashitaba is a very unique plant that’s long been used in traditional Japanese medicine — it’s a rich source of vitamins B1, B2, and B6, dietary fiber, calcium, and vitamin E. It also contains young barley leaf, matcha, Sencha, prebiotics and EMIQ. You can learn more about ALL the benefits here.
Guys, consuming a packet of Japanese nutrient-rich greens powder each day is quite possibly the easiest way to get all those vegetables in your body! What I love about it is that I can incorporate it into some of my favorite meals without having to alter anything. If you follow me on Instagram (especially Stories), then you know I love my açai bowls and protein smoothies for a healthy start or snack throughout the day. I take some of my favorite recipes and simply add a packet of Kiwami Greens to it and that’s it! Besides your bowl or smoothie turning slightly green, there is no change to the taste or texture. If I’m going to be making an açai bowl or smoothie anyways, why not get the convenience of the nutritional benefit of adding Aojiru (the Japanese greens blend)?
Since you guys are the best, I’m sharing my go-to açai bowl and protein smoothie recipes with you so you too can make easy, healthy recipes with lots of nutritional value!
Açai Smoothie Bowl
1/2 cup almond or cashew milk
1 packet Kiwami Greens
1 scoop plant-based vanilla protein powder
1 packet frozen Açai puree (found in the frozen section at your local market)
1/2 frozen banana
gluten free granola
In a high-power blender, add the ingredients as listed above (milk, greens powder (Kiwami Greens), protein powder, açai puree and frozen banana). Mix on high until blended.
Pour into bowl and top with your favorite assortment of berries. Sprinkle on hemp & chia seeds, cacao nibs and gluten free granola mix of your choice. Drizzle with almond butter and raw honey.
Very Berry Protein Smoothie
1 cup almond or cashew milk
1/4 cup coconut water
1 packet Kiwami Greens
2 scoops plant-based vanilla protein powder
1 cup frozen berry mix (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
In a high-power blender, add the milk, greens powder (Kiwami Greens), protein powder and avocado. Mix on high until well incorporated.
Add the frozen berries + strawberries and mix again. Add coconut water if needed to thin out the mixture.
Finish by adding a handful of ice and blend.
Pretty simple, uncomplicated recipes but pack a TON of nutritional value and since they’re loaded with greens and protein, they’ll keep you feeling full much longer than traditional carb heavy meals. Even if you don’t have enough time in the morning to make a blended bowl or smoothie, pop a packet of Kiwami Greens into a bottle of water and sip on it while you’re on your way to work or on a morning walk. Since it has the matcha in it as well, heat up a cup of water and enjoy it like a green tea as well. Seriously, there’s no reason why each of us can’t be getting our greens intake up!
Cheers to feeling better & getting our greens on!
