Guys, I’m having a real pinch me moment! My first ever piece of photography has been brought to life and is actually hanging on my dining room wall. It’s not just any photography print, but one that I took with my very own camera while on our trip to Italy last summer. I’ve always dreamed of having my own artwork adorn the walls of our home and now it’s finally come true with help from my friends over at Minted.
When the Minted team & I were discussing this project I was initially leaning towards picking out a few pieces of artwork that could sit above one of my sofas in the living room. I was really drawn to these cactus prints by Wilder California, but I kept getting held up on (a) what size prints to order because the wall space is so large and (b) my gut instinct telling me to ask if I could print one of my own pieces.
As a photographer you dream of seeing your work on a large scale for everyone to view. We take such pride in the images we capture and want to relive those moments through the eye of our lens. I knew in my heart that this was a great opportunity to finally see that come to life with Minted’s The Big Picture Custom Photo Art feature. It was as simple as selecting your photo, making sure it’s the right resolution and uploading it to the site. You’re able to order it unframed, but I’ll be honest, they have a great selection of custom framing where they’ll assemble it in-house and ship it to you ready to be hung. I chose to frame my Italy print in the natural raw wood frame.
Ok so you might be asking , “Kristin, I thought you were looking to put a print above your sofa in the living room, but this looks like the dining room to me.”
Cleary there was a change of plans. Let me explain….
Since I was so hesitant about what size artwork to put above the sofa, I decided to get one large print for the dining room. If you remember, I had an awesome wood California beach sign, but I felt it was time to switch things up a bit and liven up the space with some fresh artwork. I have no plans to get rid of the wood sign, but my gosh, I love how much lighter the room feels with this photograph. I’m so happy with my decision & I’ll forever remember staying in this 1500’s converted saw mill near Castellemonte, Italy.
Now, how many of you are like me and have a hard time pulling the trigger on artwork or design throughout your home? What’s great about Minted is they have a personal art styling service that will help you create the look you’re trying to achieve. I may have to enlist their services as I think I’m going to try and attempt to create a gallery wall above my sofa in the living room! Yep, I have more plans to bring my photography to life and I want to share my travels, life’s precious moments and everything in between in a unique, one-of-a-kind gallery.
Plus, you get free shipping & free returns on fine art prints using code : SHIPFREE. That at least takes some of the pressure off when making that big decision!
So… what do you think? Do you love the new artwork? I catch myself sitting on the couch starring at the photo and reminiscing about taking our morning walks past that water wheel and into the open fields that lay beyond. I couldn’t be happier about bringing some of my favorite memories to life.
