Lighten up your summer with this healthy pan-seared tilapia topped with a delicious spicy grapefruit avocado salsa. It’s refreshingly tasty and super easy to make!
It’s funny how growing up in Wisconsin I didn’t eat much seafood beyond the Friday night fish fry’s. Battered cod was about as risky as I got. Now having lived in Southern California for the past 11 years, I love all sorts of seafood and am incredibly surprised at how easy it is to make at home.
When we are looking to create a healthy dish for lunch or dinner, I tend to grab tilapia filets because they’re a pretty inexpensive fish and they taste great. For this recipe, I simply seasoned them with salt and pepper and let the spicy grapefruit avocado salsa do all the work. Don’t be intimidated by the word “spicy” as it’s really more about flavor than it is about heat.
We enjoyed this recipe with a tall glass of Cambria Wines Tepusquet Vineyard Viognier as the fruit forward flavors and aromas work nicely with the citrus in the salsa, as well as with the white fish. Truly, you can’t go wrong with this wine and food combo and just plan on serving it all summer long!
