Learn this simple picture hanging tip using washi tape to eliminate unnecessary holes in your walls.
If you’re like me, you have probably had your fair share of unwanted nail holes in walls due to an error in your picture hanging estimating skills. As much as we’d like to think we have a great “eye” for this task, we often fall short (or long) and end up patching up a few holes or simply covering them up only to be reminded of them later.
This simple little tip I’m about to share with you will be life-changing (well almost) when it comes to removing the stress in your life at the mere thought of hanging a picture on the wall. We’ve been using this trick for a few years now and rely on it every time we want to put something on the wall. Gone are the days when we look at each other and collectively sigh with a “whoops” and realign the picture to hopefully get it right on the 2nd or 3rd try.
This is reason #187 as to why I love washi tape! It can literally be used for hundreds of things and my favorite reason for using it is that it easily removes from whatever you’re sticking it on without any residue or difficulty. Hence, it’s great for helping hang your pictures because it’ll just peel right off your wall and up goes the frame!
This isn’t rocket science, so here goes 7 steps towards hanging the perfect picture with washi tape.
Step 1 : Turn your picture frame onto it’s front side so that the back hanging brackets are facing up.
Step 2 : Measure a piece of washi tape to the width of the frame.
Step 3 : Place the tape over any hanging brackets or the specific area that you will be hanging it from (ex. corner notches).
Step 4 : Mark the exact spot as to where a nail will need to be placed using either a nail or a sharpie.
Step 6 : Place nails in the pre-marked holes and remove the tape.
Step 7 : Hang your picture frame, then stand back and admire your handy”man” work.
Pretty simple heh? Like I mentioned before, it isn’t a mind-blowing phenomenon, but it certainly is effective. Hope this tip helps you as much as it has helped us!
