Reflections on 33 : Day 1

Cue the Stevie Wonder song because you can bet this will be on repeat throughout the day tomorrow!

In just 24 hours  I came into this world determined to be fiercely independent from the get go. I have some amazing parents, pretty awesome brothers, a wonderful significant other and a slew of family & friends who’ve supported my stubborn ways along this crazy life journey.

Here’s my final reflection leading up to my 33rd Birthday.

You’ve heard me say the phrase throughout the past 6 days of reflections, but commit to living life to the fullest. It was almost 6 years ago that I was involved in a horrible head on + rear end collision that left my car a mangled mess while I was pinned against the middle divider on the freeway. It was the most terrifying moment of my life, yet resulted in being the most life changing moment of my life.

Somehow, someway I walked away from the accident a mere 7 hours later. I was bruised and battered, but I was ok. Physically I looked unscathed, although I now have debilitating back problems that come & go. The thing that changed as a result of that car accident was my outlook on my life. I had a new perspective on what mattered in life. I wasn’t supposed to survive that crash or let alone walk away from it.

Take it from me, don’t wait for the life-changing moment to happen for you to go after the things you want. Our time on this earth is truly precious and can be taken from us in an instant. That shirt or pair of shoes you’re saving for a special occasion, well that day is now. Everyday is a reason to celebrate. It’s now or never to go on that trip you’ve always dreamed of, enroll in a class that your passionate about, reach out to that long lost friend.

Do something unexpected, pursue a passion, travel that world, be unapologetic and love hard.

Peace, Love & Party.
