When I was back home in Wisconsin a few weeks ago all I could think about was warm, hearty comfort food. Fall is in their rearview mirror and it’s just beginning for us here in Southern California. None the less, once you’ve hit November everyone craves comfort food no matter what the temperature says outside. These savory roasted meatballs in a homemade tomato basil sauce fill the void. That’s right, skip the store bought marinara and simmer your own sauce for the best flavors!
While most people immediately think spaghetti when you hear meatballs, but you can omit the extra carbs. Just feast on the roasted meatballs, a few spoonfuls of homemade tomato basil sauce and a loaf of fresh garlic bread to mop up the extra sauce. Of course, dinner isn’t complete without a perfectly paired wine like Cambria Wines Tepusquet Vineyard Syrah. It’s a full-bodied wine that can handle the flavors of the meatballs as well as the rich, acidic tastes of the sauce.
