We are winding down the remaining 13 days left of 2014 and I think it’s important to take a few moments to reflect on what you’ve accomplished this year. You’d be amazed at the little milestones achieved and should be proud of each and every one of them. Celebrate them!
If you wrote down resolutions for 2014, pull them out and review how you did. Here’s the best part, even if you didn’t accomplish a certain goal, it’s a great opportunity to evaluate “why” you didn’t achieve it and tweak it just a bit to get it done this next year. Maybe it wasn’t attainable due to finances, an injury or an unexpected move. Whatever it is, don’t punish yourself for not achieving it, just set it as a new goal but with different expectations.
Here is what I’ve learned about setting resolutions. The more general they are, the less likely they are to be achieved. Really work hard at narrowing down the details of your goal. You can’t become a photographer if you (a) don’t own a camera, or (b) practice your technique. So maybe your resolution is to take 100 photos each week and watch 4 YouTube educational videos a month. I bet you by the end of the year you’ll feel like a true photographer!
I’ve provided you with a download that you can print from your home computer, write down your goals and then post it somewhere that will inspire to go after them on a daily basis! This is key people, you must hang it on the fridge, put it in a frame or set a monthly calendar reminder to review your goals throughout the year. I’m 100% guilty of this as I’ve seem to misplace my 2014 Resolutions worksheet and I’m unable to reflect on what I’ve accomplished this year. I “think” I would be mighty proud of myself for what I achieved, but I don’t have anything to look back on. Bummer.
Here at Modish & Main, we truly wish you the most amazing Holiday Season and New Year ahead. We firmly believe that if you want to accomplish something, put your mind to it and don’t let anything get in your way!
