A few Saturday’s a month we find ourselves driving into downtown Ventura to our favorite little Mexican cantina, El Rey. We often sit at the bar, converse with the bartender (Rob) and order a few El Flaco margaritas, a plate of fajitas and a farmers market burrito. We rarely ever steer off course. It was on one of those drive homes that we told ourselves we should just start making margaritas at home, but let’s also combine our love for the smoker.

That afternoon the smoked peach spicy margarita was born. I’ve mentioned quite a few times how much we love our spicy jalapeño margaritas, but things just got kicked up another notch with the addition of smoked peaches!
When peaches are in season we buy them by the case full. It’s often our go-to dessert and we recently started tossing them on a cast iron grill for a few minutes and then drizzle with honey for a tasty treat to end the night. Since we had a bunch of peaches sitting on the counter, it was the inspiration for this smoked & spicy cocktail.
I’m not a fan of sweet margaritas, so by smoking the peach for 5-7 minutes it gives it this, well “smokey” flavor that pairs so well with the already spicy margarita. Since we couldn’t let any peaches go to waste, we had ourselves quite the fiesta at home!
The margarita gets kicked up a notch with this smoked peach and spicy jalapeño version.
Ingredients
- 1 peach, sliced into quarters
- 1 large jalapeño, sliced
- fresh lime juice
