Strawberry Breakfast Toast

We all know avocado toast is having it’s moment and while I do love it, I often find myself craving a fruit inspired breakfast in the morning. Though this recipe is not complicated, it definitely tastes so delicious and is worth doing those few extra steps to make it even more special.

While I try not to buy it too often, I love a fresh sourdough loaf. I’m not talking the sourdough you find in the grocery store isles, I’m talking fresh sourdough from a bakery that’s sliced right in front of you. That’s the good stuff. You might be asking yourself, “wait a second, I thought Kristin was gluten free?”

I am. Here’s the thing, a lot of gluten intolerant people can eat sourdough.  Due to the fact that good sourdough using wild yeast it requires a fermentation process that creates beneficial bacteria in your body which equals a happy gut. Now the key ingredient, besides the fresh strawberries, is the cream cheese. Since I’m dairy free, I obviously can’t use any old regular cream cheese. That’s where Kite Hill plain almond milk cream cheese comes to the rescue! Guys, this stuff is so good and even if you’re not having to be dairy free, it’s worth getting! I’ll be honest, every product they have is really delicious. I buy two containers of their almond milk yogurt a week to enjoy fruit parfaits as a snack throughout the week.

Back to the strawberry breakfast toast. After you’ve toasted a few pieces of sourdough, slather on a spread of Kite Hill cream cheese and top with freshly sliced strawberries. Next comes the fun part where you drizzle on some raw honey (bonus that my Aunt & Uncle make their own) and top with hemp and chia seeds. That’s it! You’re boring basic toast got a major upgrade + it’s healthy for you!

  1. Love your photography Kristin. Everything you share always looks so pretty and delicious!
    Additionally your posts are so informative. I too love Kite Hill everything. That is a new way to eat it, I must try. I had no idea that some people with gluten intolerance/allergies could possibly eat sourdough bread. That is one thing I miss immensely. I’m going to try the “fresh” sourdough (I will have my coconut activated charcoal on hand in case I have a reaction) fingers crossed that I can eat sourdough bread again. Thank you for sharing
