Last month we got to enjoy some summer fun at the Santa Barbara Polo Fields.
I have had a whirlwind summer from taking a 12-day road trip to the Pacific Northwest, heading to Wisconsin to celebrate the 4th of July, our annual Lake Tahoe trip and in between there, I got to have some summer fun at the Santa Barbara Polo Fields! I have never been to a polo match, but what’s not to love about a summer day in Santa Barbara where you get to dress up, wear a big hat and watch handsome men ride beautiful horses in a competitive polo match?
I really didn’t know what to expect at a polo match, but I read up on some Polo 411 beforehand and I would say that we definitely got the gist of the game but have to attend quite a few more matches to really get a hang of the sport. Our lovely neighbors, Soraya & Randy, joined us and we truly had such an enjoyable afternoon sipping on Mint Juleps, stomping divots during halftime while sipping on champagne and taking in the whole spectacle.
With the biggest tournament of the season kicking off this weekend, things are really ramping up in Santa Barbara and the festivities will get even more grand. I’m so thrilled that we all got to experience our first polo match together and we all hope it’s not our last! I love the competitive spirit of the sport and any excuse for me to wear a cute hat…. I’m all in!
P.S. Did you know there are 8 chukkas in a match that last 7 minutes each? There’s a bit of polo 411 for you!
