Wow, sort of can’t believe that as I sit here writing this post that we are down to the final 36 hours of 2017. I say this every year how I can’t believe just how fast the year flew by and I can’t decide if I’m upset about that or simply just grateful that life was so busy & entertaining that it kept me that fulfilled. I would hate to think that I didn’t “accomplish enough” or that I didn’t “reach my goals,” but I can honestly sit here and tell you that I’m completely satisfied with 2017.
In life there will always be more, but sometimes we just need to sit back and give ourselves a break with what we did accomplish. We could always fall prey to the comparison game, but where will that get us? Feeling unfulfilled, dissatisfied, disappointed, etc etc. There’s no reason to waste another minute feeling any of those things! You do you and do it well. That’s all there is at the end of the day.
As we drove around Ventura yesterday to look at the neighborhoods affected by the Thomas Fire, I was left with such a heavy heart of feeling so grateful for literally every single thing I have in my life. It was a quick and humbling reminder to stop and simply be appreciative for what we do have and let go of all the other petty things holding us back. I literally came from our drive and sat down to write this post to reflect on what an incredible 2017 I had in life, here on the blog and with my Modish Digital business.
I wanted to reflect and share some of my favorite posts from the year. So come along on my journey back through 2017!
Started off the year taking a road trip to wine country and stayed at the Autocamp in Russian River. You can’t go wrong with Airstreams, Redwoods and wine.
Every January we take our family ski trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado. A little fun in the snow is always good for the soul.
I shared how to create an organized smoothie cabinet & it was definitely a reader favorite!
In April we meandered around New Orleans finding the best places for cocktails, dinner and live music.
Followed up that trip with a 10-day vacation to Vancouver & Whistler, Canada. There was so much to love about visiting VC and I swear we ate and drank our way through it. You can’t get more beautiful scenery either!
I shared one of my all-time FAVORITE recipes from back home in Wisconsin, the sweet potato tater tot casserole (made dairy free with homemade cream of mushroom soup). Ohhhhh it makes me want to bake a batch for dinner this week!
Leading up to my 33rd birthday, I shared 7-days of reflections and opened up on some topics that I’ve never publicly discussed before. If you haven’t read them before, start with day 7.
It’s been over 2 years since I changed my skincare routine to being all-natural and I can honestly say that my skin has never looked or felt better. I shared why I did it and what products I’m using.
This October I took an 8-day road trip with my brother, Ryan, throughout Montana, Wyoming & Colorado. From National Bison Range to Yellowstone and into the Grand Tetons, there were so many incredible things to see along the way.
Ended the year hosting a Holiday Bake & Brunch with some of my closest girlfriends. It was the perfect way to celebrate the holidays, hang with your girls and sip mimosas. Just what I needed after a long, fulfilling year.
Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each & every one of you that stop by this little blog that I call home. It’s a place where I share my travels, recipes, organizing tips, home decor and more. None of this would exist if you didn’t take a few minutes out of your day to stop over and take a peek. I hope you leave feeling inspired.
I wish you all a very Happy New Year & I can’t wait for yet another incredible year ahead.
